Abstract
The beneficial response to immunosuppressive therapy in patients with sensorineural hearing loss suggests that there is an important correlation between autoimmune activity and hearing loss. Numerous immunological diagnostic studies have been
performed
to identify the antibodies against inner ear antigen in patients with various inner ear disease. Although the relationship between the response to steroid and the antibody to 68-kD protein has been demonstrated, the pathogenesis of this
immune-mediated
sensorineural hearing loss is not clarified yet. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between the results of immunologic screening test and the presence of antibody to 68kD protein in various type of inner ear diseases.
